at the Cafe- Tess is so sweet and great at her job. She is very thorough with her orders . Barista- Joey is such a vibrant spirit and joy when I place my orders These two people both stood out to me as my husband and I planned our wedding and even our 1 year anniversary.
Such a quaint little area of Torrance. I was in the area so stopped by for two of my favorite cookies: Fudge Chew $1.40 & Maple Pecan Chew $2.00. Delicious, as always! The bakery is clean inside and out and well organized. Service was fast and friendly.
I love getting their custom sugar cookies made for my open houses with a picture of the home, especially if the house is located in old torrance! You can do any picture and text so these are perfect for parties and special occasions. I get 1-2 dozen custom cookies and then some chocolate chews and other pastries.
We always find it a delight to come to this quaint and bakery. Let me share three reasons why - First, the staff is always welcoming, smiling and attentive. Second, the danish are so extraordinary that they exceed those we recently had in Solvang. Finally, the prices are more than reasonable for the delicious treats.
My sorority sister put me on to this bakery Torrance Bakery (Maple Pecan Cookies, Strawberry Cake) The maple pecan cookies and strawberry cake from Torrance Bakery are to die for! The cookies are perfectly chewy with just the right amount of maple flavor, and packed with pecans! If you love pecans this cookie will have you hooked. The strawberry cake is moist and decadent I have ever tasted! We brought a sheet for my sister's baby shower and they understood the assignment! The ladies working there have been so sweet and amazing as well. I can't resist stopping by whenever I'm in the area.
Dropped by Sunday morning for coffee but the pastries looked good so we decided to get some. Got a latte with 2%. It was pretty good. Creamy but still had the nice aroma of the coffee. Then I asked what was their most popular pastries. I got the maple pecan cookie, fudge cookie, pecan bar and apple fritter. We liked the apple fritter the most. Usually when I get an apple fritter, I never taste the apple but this one had real pieces of juicy apple that was nice. The fudge cookie lacked chocolate flavor though. Place was pretty busy. Long line possibly because it was Easter. Some people were there picking up preordered cakes as well. But the line moved fairly quickly.
Great tasting and consistent quality Cafe is separate from the bakery- Always a fantastic place to grab lunch in downtown Torrance Friendly staff, reasonable prices, good size portion ( light eater portion available too!) Bakery line is almost always out the door, but moves very quickly. Bakery staff is accommodating and friendly Tables available outside- they fill up quickly, especially on a sunny day Overall a great local spot and worth the extra time to travel to if you're in need of treats (whole cake, cookies, cupcakes, pastries) for a special occasion
I finally made it to this location. I never realized they had a parking lot behind the bakery. Perfect parking spot. I've had friends describe this bakery as the place to grab yourself a treat. I needed birthday cupcakes. I got strawberry and chocolate. The chocolate was consumed before the photo could be taken. The frosting is made from scratch and the cake is the right density between fluffy and solid. I love both flavors. Definitely a spot I would return for a variety of pastries.
Torrance Bakery is an iconic symbol of the South Bay. Many generations of families have enjoyed their treats for years. I have been going to Torrance Bakery for the better part of 20 years...ever since I was a kid. I've had it all...cakes, cookies, petit desserts, custom cakes, croissants, breads, and sandwiches. Most recently, they made my wedding cake and I had the honor of meeting with the owner. I talked to him about an apricot filling that I once had in a custom cake. They had since discontinued it, because I had tried to get it again, but he advised me they currently offered it! He brought out a sample and it was definitely a ratatouille moment! My pupils dilated with glee! Needless to say, we chose the apricot, coupled with a Bavarian cream in the top layer. As soon as we started planning our wedding, I already knew where I wanted to get our cake. It was easy to schedule a tasting by email, but you can also call. Tastings are $10, but they bring out several samples for you to try, in addition to fillings. They have several sample cakes out on display to help you narrow down your choices of design and decorations and even give you time up to a week before your event to make changes. The price of the cake was reasonable and you have the option of putting a deposit or paying in full. After we confirmed our order, we went next door to their sandwich shop to grab some sandwiches for lunch. I like how much the bakery has grown. Their current setup seems to make things more efficient and it also helps alleviate some of the stress that came with the foot traffic. They have the main bakery, but they've since separated some of their busy sections into three separate, but connecting shops. Next door to the main bakery is the cake pick up. Next door to that is the cake showroom, and next door to that is the sandwich shop. The bakery delivered our cake on time to our venue. Everyone absolutely loved the cake, in fact there was none left on the tables and people came back to try another layer. After our wedding, we reordered one of our layers in a mini cake, because we didn't get to try that layer and it had been the main one we were looking forward to. Torrance Bakery made a gorgeous mini version of our wedding cake, complete with the edible glitter. We tore that mini cake up! We were just talking about ordering another one, lol. The cakes are addicting. They're always delicious, moist, and soft and hold up remarkably well, when not refrigerated. Torrance Bakery will definitely continue to be a staple in our family for generations to come!
Ok, all it has been some time since I've dived deep into a review or wrote one. Let me say that Torrance Bakery became known to be since 2020. I have had many birthday cakes and pastries at family functions. So, while out and in the area yesterday, I decided to pop in and take pastries home. They were busy upon entrance. I mean, why not, right? I just could not decide. I bought the hubby chocolate chewy walnut cookies purchased 6 oh my ! On to the pecan pie ! I missed pie this Thanksgiving, so I made up for it and dived in after dinner last night. Oh my! I will be back for more. Maple tea cup never had one fell in love there so moist yet tiny and filling in each bite I took. I never shared anything I brought back from the bakery. This was my first time ever doing that. I am infamous for leaving or eating half of anything. Even after a day there cookies are just as I went today. I will be back for chritmas pies. I noticed there is no dining in. However, there are a few round tables for outdoor dining. There is a place to eat called Clutch and Coffee it is the coolest spot to eat at if in area. There are several shops within walking distance love the area.
